United Equipment Accessories has been manufacturing slip rings for most conceivable 360-degree rotary electrical applications for over 40 years. In 1952, our founder, Vern Iserman, was called upon by a personal friend to design and develop a remote control device that would allow the operator of a piece of heavy equipment the ability to move his truck without leaving the crane cab. This remote control device consisted of solenoid valves, a switch panel, hydraulic lines and other components. Because the crane cab needed to rotate 360 degrees, the remote control unit also needed to include a slip ring assembly to supply power to the unit while rotating. Production of these devices for an international crane and heavy equipment manufacturer continued to grow for 10 years. Initially, we did not manufacture the slip ring assembly that was contained inside the remote control unit. However, in 1961 we developed our own slip ring design based on the needs of the heavy equipment industry. Due to hostile and sometimes dirty environmental conditions, special consideration was given in the design of the double brushes on these slip rings guaranteeing continuity even in orbiting conditions. This design is currently used in all slip rings that we design and build today.
In approximately 1969 we further expanded our product line to serve the off-highway industry to include electric and electronic transmission shift controllers.
Rough terrain crane manufacturers needed a means to shift a transmission electrically throughout a continuous 360 degree rotation. These controllers are used extensively in the off highway heavy machinery industry for control of electrified transmissions. We custom build these controllers to most transmission manufacturer's designs.
Today, we not only serve the crane and heavy equipment industry, but a variety of other industries located around the world with our slip ring, cable reel and shift control product lines.
